Julie Halferty has over 26 years of experience in law enforcement, investigation, and program management. She holds a license to practice law in Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor degree, with a background in criminal defense, prosecution, compliance, and civil litigation.
As an FBI Security Officer, Julie led a team responsible for reviewing and adjudicating investigations related to insider threats and employee misconduct, resulting in clearance actions including the revocation of top-secret security clearances. She created a team to prepare appellate cases pending before the Department of Justice and oversaw the adjudication and approval process for employee requests for access to Secure Compartmented Information.
As the Unit Chief at the FBI's Human Resources Division for more than four years, Julie led the team responsible for delivering staffing and global relocation services for all Bureau personnel. She streamlined technical, administrative, and business processes, removing redundancies to boost efficiency and enhance customer service. Julie ensured consistent communication with staff across all departments, effectively identifying and resolving challenging personnel issues through documentation, counseling, and when necessary, dismissal. Julie collaborated closely with executive management and Special Agents to develop targeted solutions for personnel matters and staffing needs.
Julie has served as a cross-designated FBI Special Agent and Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) specializing in the prosecution of financial crimes. She previously held the positions of Associate Division Counsel and Media Coordinator, where she provided legal counsel, investigative guidance, and delivered on-camera media interviews related to significant FBI cases. As a Supervisory Special Agent, Julie led a cross-functional financial crimes team, implementing investigative strategies to prosecute a high volume of cases while proactively tackling emerging crime trends.
